Our emergency line is answered at any hour, weekends included. A discharged sprinkler, a failed pump or a riser that will not hold pressure leaves the building unprotected from the moment it happens, so the system is isolated and made safe first, then repaired, recommissioned and recertified. Sentry Sprinkler Protection carries out emergency sprinkler repair across England from its base in Kettering, ISO 9001 certified.

When it is due

The duty sits with whoever controls the premises under the Fire Safety Order 2005. It can be delegated as work, not as responsibility, which is why the certificate matters as much as the visit. How compliance works

What we actually get called to

Four calls make up most of the out-of-hours work. If you are reading this during one of them, the phone number is at the top of the page and the practical steps are above.

  • A burst or weeping pipe, usually frost or impact

Unheated space, a cold night, and a split in the pipework. Or a forklift mast, a scissor lift or a delivery that caught a pipe. The priority is isolating the right section rather than the whole building, so the rest of the premises keeps its protection while the repair happens.

  • A head knocked off during someone else's work

Racking changes, ceiling work and stock movement account for most accidental discharges. A discharging head puts out a great deal of water quickly, so the first call is about isolation and the second is about getting the system back in service properly rather than capped and forgotten.

  • A pump or alarm fault in the middle of the night

A pump that has failed, an alarm that will not reset, or a panel showing a fault nobody on site can interpret. Much of this is resolved on the phone, which is quicker for you than waiting for a van and costs you nothing.

  • A system isolated by another trade and left that way

Often discovered at a handover or during a fire risk assessment rather than at the time. The building has been unprotected for an unknown period, and the job is to prove the system through properly and record what was found, not simply to reopen a valve.

Questions we get asked

What counts as a fire sprinkler emergency repair?

A leak from pipework or a head, a discharged sprinkler, a pump that will not start, a riser that failed its test, or any fault that has taken the system out of service.

How quickly can you attend?

Ring and we will tell you honestly, based on where the site is and what is happening. We would rather give you a real time than a number that sounds good.

Will the system be certified again afterwards?

Yes. A repair is not finished until the system is recommissioned, tested and the record updated. A system back in service without documentation is still a gap in your file.

What is the charge for coming out?

Attendance is charged by the hour with a four hour minimum, and it rises outside our normal working hours of Monday to Friday. The repair is separate and priced once we have seen the fault. You will be told the attendance charge on the call, before anybody gets in a van.

Can you make it safe tonight and repair it properly later?

Usually, and often that is the right sequence. Getting the building back to a defensible position matters more at two in the morning than a permanent fix. We will tell you honestly which parts can wait and what to tell your insurer in the meantime.

Do you carry parts on the van?

Common fittings and consumables yes. A valve set component or a pump part often has to be ordered, and we will say so on the call rather than attending, looking at it and telling you the same thing two hours later.

24/7 emergency for your kind of building

The standard is the same. What changes is the hazard, the design and what an insurer asks to see.

  • Lewis W. Sprinkler installation, warehouse

Had them install a full sprinkler system across one of our warehouses, and couldn't be happier. They were professional from start to finish and the on-site team were genuinely friendly to work with. […] Highly recommend if you would need your building or warehouse properly fire-protected.

  • Sam E. Sprinkler pipework installation

Couldn't recommend [Sentry] enough. Their work ethic, consistent efficient install of the pipework and overall approach to a project should be something every sub-contractor strives to mirror. Marius is incredibly approachable and methodical in his work with laydown areas kept very neat and tidy and all work carried out in a safe manner.
