    What to expect from the survey

    No fee, no obligation, and no sales visit dressed up as an inspection.

    What actually happens at the survey?

    We walk the building, look at the plant room and the valve sets, check what condition things are in and what access is like, and read whatever records you have. It is not a sales visit with a form. You get told what the building owes and what it will cost, including when the answer is less than you expected.

    How long does it take and do we need to be there?

    Usually an hour or two depending on the size of the site. Somebody needs to let us into the plant room and any locked risers, but you do not have to walk round with us unless you want to. We will need to know who holds the keys before the day.

    Are we committing to anything by booking one?

    No. There is no survey fee and no obligation afterwards. If the honest answer is that your current contractor is doing a decent job, that is what the survey will say, and you have lost nothing but an hour.

    What should we have ready?

    Whatever records exist: previous service reports, certificates, any drawings of the system, and the details of who currently maintains it. If there is nothing at all, that is useful to know too, and it is more common than people expect.
