Sprinkler alarm valve repair is needed when a valve set passes water, leaks at the trim, keeps the jockey pump running or raises an alarm that will not reset. Most of it comes down to a worn seat, perished seals, or trim and gauges past their life. We strip the valve set, replace what has failed, and prove it on flow before the system goes back into service. Sentry Sprinkler Protection does this work across England from its base in Kettering, ISO 9001 certified.
Signs the alarm valve needs attention
- Water at the drain or the alarm line when nothing has operated.
- A jockey pump cutting in every few minutes.
- Gauges that do not read, or read differently from the last service.
- An alarm bell or flow signal that will not reset.
What the repair involves
The installation is isolated and drained down, and the valve set opened. Seats and seals are cleaned or replaced, failed trim and gauges replaced, and the valve reassembled.
It is then proved on flow and function, alarm and flow switch included, and the system refilled with the air vented.
One installation out, not the building
Where a building has more than one valve set, only the installation being repaired comes out of service. We tell you the period beforehand, ask you to let your insurer know, and confirm when the system is back to normal operating condition.
When alarm valve replacement makes more sense
A valve set with a corroded body, parts that are no longer made, or the same fault coming back is often better replaced than rebuilt. We fit new wet and dry alarm valve sets, and say which is the better money at the survey.

Questions about sprinkler alarm valve repair
Is an alarm valve passing water an emergency?
Not usually, unless it has taken the installation out of service. It will get worse, and a jockey pump running constantly wears too, so book it in soon rather than leaving it for the annual service.
Do you repair dry pipe and pre-action valve sets?
Yes. They carry more trim and an air supply, and both are checked as part of the repair.
Can our maintenance team reset the valve themselves?
They can read the gauges and record what the panel shows, which helps. A valve set reassembled wrongly leaves the installation shut and looking normal, so the repair itself needs someone competent in sprinkler systems.
