Sprinkler tank repair covers the faults that drain a tank without anyone noticing: weeping sectional joints, a float or infill valve that no longer refills, and a low level alarm that never sounds. We find which one it is, fix it, and prove the tank holds and refills before we leave. Sentry Sprinkler Protection does this work across England from its base in Kettering, ISO 9001 certified.
Why sprinkler tanks lose water
Most tanks we are called to are not leaking through the steel. The usual causes are:
- Sectional joints weeping as the gaskets age. Small at first, then the plant room floor.
- A float or infill valve that sticks or refills too slowly, so the tank empties over weeks.
- A low level alarm that was never proved, so nothing reports the drop.
- Silt and internal corrosion, which cut the stored volume while the tank still looks full.
Leak or refill fault? The test that tells you
Evaporation, a passing float valve and a leaking joint all look the same on the level gauge. We isolate the refill and measure the drop against time.
It is a short test, and it decides whether the repair is a valve, a joint or the tank itself. A weekly note of the level before we arrive shortens the visit.
What sprinkler tank leak repairs involve
- Joints and gaskets on sectional tanks remade, panel by panel.
- Float and infill valves replaced, as on our Kettering float valve job.
- The low level alarm tested through to wherever it is meant to report.
- Where there are two tanks or a divided tank, one half kept in service while the other is worked on.
Where the system has to come out of service, the isolation is planned, your insurer is told, and the tank is refilled and proved before we hand it back.
When repair stops making sense
When the steel has gone rather than the coating, when the seams leak faster than they can be remade, or when the building now needs more water than the tank holds, we say so and price a sprinkler tank replacement instead.

Questions about sprinkler tank repair
How urgent is a sprinkler tank repair?
If the level is falling and the refill cannot keep up, treat it as urgent: the system is losing the water its design depends on. A weep the refill is keeping pace with can be planned, but not left. Ring and describe what you see and we will tell you which it is.
Do you do sprinkler tank repairs on tanks you did not install?
Yes. Most tank repairs are on tanks somebody else installed. We need access to the tank and, if they exist, the last inspection records.
Will the sprinkler system be out of service during the repair?
Usually in part, and for as short a time as the work takes. With two tanks or a divided tank, one half holds the supply. With one tank, the isolation is planned and your insurer told before it starts.
